Balasa Ionescu was born on January 19th, 1919 in Vladaia village, Mehedinti district. She is graduate of Institute of Fine Art, Bucharest in 1943. She learned with professors: Francisc Sirato, Eustatiu Stoenescu, Nicolae Darascu, Camil Ressu and O.Hahn, Cornel Medrea. She was teacher at high school of art "Nicolae Tonitza", Bucharest.
